Any "value" to a older Gen2 G17?

Is there any "value" to a older Gen2 G17? I put the word value in quotes because i am NOT talking about dollar value. I picked up a older Austrian Gen2 G17 for heap the other day as a project gun. The slid has that nicely worn flat black finish with matching Austrian proof marks on the barrel and slide. Love the old finish. But i have realized i am not crazy about the gen 2 frame. I have a extra gen 3 frame so i can stick the top half on the gen 3 frame. Done, perfect.
