I'm curious about why lots of folks do this. Some say because it's stronger and thus more durable. Others say the added weight difference aids in recoil reduction and better follow up shot accuracy. Still others say, "pistols should have stainless steel guide rods..." citing the Shield as an example.
Is there a factual benefit in doing so, or merely opinion based on personal experience?
