Glock 19 VAR1?

I saw there are now two part numbers for Glock 19 barrels. one for prior to 2013 Gen3 and one for later?

Can anyone fill me in on the details of the change? Ive seen referenced to VAR1 barrels and VAR1 slides, but no details.
